-Vitamin C is a well known micronutrient essential during any flu fighting season. Vitamin C contributes to immune defense by supporting various cellular functions of both innate (general) and adaptive (specific) immune system. Vitamin C supports epithelial barrier function, a barrier that regulates nutrient absorption as well as prevents the invasion of pathogenic bacteria. It is a potent antioxidant (substances that may protect your cells from free radicals) by promoting the oxidant scavenging of the skin.

-Iodine a trace element necessary for all tissues and organs in the body. Iodine is not only necessary for the production of thyroid hormone, adequate levels are necessary for proper immune system function.
-Turmeric is included in the protocol because of curcumin. Curcumin is the active component of Turmeric and is what gives Turmeric the yellow color. Researchers have discovered it may be helpful for those who suffer from cold and flu symptoms. Curcumin has the potential to reduce inflammation in the body linked to excessive coughing and sneezing, while increasing antioxidant capacity.

-Vitamins A and D work in a partnership that has been refined through time. They must be supplemented together so that a "functional" deficiency is not created. The pairing allows the two nutrients to balance, enhance, and contain each other through a receptor called RXR. The result created a balanced, functioning immune system that does not swing into autoimmune disease, or have trouble handling pathogens. A healthy immune system is linked to a healthy nervous system! Want to read more about it? -Copper, Zinc, and Selenium. Combining Copper, Zinc, and Selenium in a chelation (bonding of ions and molecules) with Arginine helps with bioavailability. It is well known that when Copper and Zinc are combine it needs to be in a proper ration (8 zinc:1 copper) for proper absorption, and this is what our pharmacist has expertly done! Copper ions are considered to be an indispensable trace element in the immune homeostasis of the body. There is a long history linking Zinc with optimal immune support. Adequate levels of dietary Selenium play an important role in initiating immunity, but they are also involved in regulating excessive immune responses and chronic inflammation.
