Who we are:
Our founder, Charles Hakala (RPh), a compounding pharmacist, worked with Dr.
Brownstein, Dr. Abraham, and Dr. Fletchas on the original Iodine Project. He formulated the recipe for the tablet form of liquid Lugol's
solution. Charles and his wife, Laurie, owned and operated a pharmacy during that time then
retired. Retirement did not suit Charles, so he founded Hakala Research to
focus solely on iodine.
Hakala Research has been a company since 2007,
specializing in iodine testing and supplements. Since inception, we have always been a
family owned and operated business. Charles and his son, AJ (BA Inorganic Chemistry, MS Agronomy & Water Resource Management), compound
and manufacture tablets and run sample testing. His daughters, Allyson
(MBA, BA Psychology and Marketing) and Abbey (BS Kinesiology), handle the direct customer service, marketing, and shipping
aspects of Hakala Research.
